X-Rays

Many Chiropractors do not believe in using X-rays. I wonder if these days its due to the fact that insurance companies don’t like to pay for them, or if they don’t feel comfortable with the added liability of having to interpret them correctly. If you don’t bother to look, you can’t be held responsible for missing something. In the absence of trauma I don’t insist on x-rays. On the other hand I believe X-Rays are important for the following three reasons.

Cervical Before

After two months of care this cervical spine now has the proper curve.

First, studies have shown that inter examiner reliability of diagnosis spinal complaints by poking and prodding and even moving the spine through its normal range of motion is less than chance. Indiscriminate adjusting may allow you to feel better for a while, but, it is not the most therapeutic approach for your long term well being.

Second, everyone is built differently. My X-ray vision has been deficient since that Kryptonite episode. And my crystal ball has been in the shop for months. I believe treatment without x-rays is like taking you car to the garage for service, and not letting your mechanic open the hood. There are often conditions known as congenital anomalies that can create situations where some types of adjustments should be avoided or you run the risk of injury. Wouldn’t you want to know if you are one of the ten percent of the people who have one?

Lumbar Before

After four months of care this lumbar spine now has the correct functional curve.

Thirdly, I want your care in this office to be goal oriented. If we really look, by taking x-rays and doing a thorough examination, we know exactly what we are trying to accomplish with your treatment plan.

As you can see from the x-rays on this page, a before and after, should show significant change. This is in fact true with over eighty five percent of my patients. I like the fact that with my method of Chiropractic care, we have a starting point and a goal. When you reach This goal, your treatment plan is changed to keep you functioning in top condition.

If the spinal curves are properly corrected the spine is far more resilient to the stresses we place on ourselves every day. Often I am able to assist people who have had long term chronic problems to finally put those issues behind them, once and for all. That is what the job is all about for me.

A Band-Aid approach to your care, or a real solution, which would prefer? You be the judge!
